Velvet Mites (family Trombidiidae, order Trombidiformes or Actinedida)
These animals are predators as adults, on the prowl for really tiny arthropods, as is illustrated below. As tiny, invisible nymphs, they are popularly known as "chiggers," and are parasites of a variety of species.
